The Standard East Village: smallish but sexy

The East Village is certainly rocking. It has been transformed from a beat/hippie haven to a smart, stylish neighborhood with cafes and restaurants aplenty. Not quite as glam as the West Village but certainly as lively, if not more so.

Bridge Over Tranquil Water

This bridge over the Cam in Cambridge, UK, joins two parts of St. John’s College, one of the most beautiful in Cambridge.  I stayed in a room at St. John’s in order to save money and to photograph the grounds when all the tourists had gone.  You can get more information at  universityrooms.com.  I stayed in a room overlooking the Cam but unfortunately it was during a rare heat wave in the UK and alas, the student rooms do not have airconditioning. Surprise, surprise!

My Fav Hotel in NYC? Hotel Americano

The studio suite is awesome. Hotel Americano, congrats. Great staff and service. Amazing rooftop bar.bar. Situated in far west Chelsea, the Hotel Americano is a hip boutique spot that draws a young, professional crowd. It is totally without any uptown attitude and offers a zen vibe in keeping with the cutting edge art galleries that inhabit this part of Mahattan. I got the studio suite on an upgrade but look for a good price on Hotel Tonight.
